Enjoy Évora — the capital of the south-central region of Portugal, the Alentejo — and see the ancient Roman Temple of Évora (also known as the Temple of Diana) and the city's historic center with the Cathedral of Évora, the enormous Gothic structure whose construction began in the 12th century!

Its well-preserved historic center is one of the wealthiest monuments in Portugal, deserving the epithet of City-Museum. In 1986, UNESCO declared the city's historic center a World Heritage Site.

On this tour, you can relish the historic center of Évora in Praça do Giraldo, built in honor of Geraldo Geraldes, the "No-Fear man," a Portuguese warrior and folk hero of the Reconquista. Visit the Cathedral of Évora, the largest medieval cathedral in Portugal, which has no resemblance to the rest of the country. And don't miss the Temple of Diana, one of the most majestic and best preserved Roman temples in the entire Iberian Peninsula. And the Capela dos Ossos, a kind of calling card of Évora — a scary chapel built in the seventeenth century on the initiative of three Franciscan friars wholly decorated with human bones.

Leaving Évora, we will visit Monsaraz, an Alentejo village located 40 km from Evora, with an amazing view of the Aqueva river.
