Half-day Majestic Amberd Group Tour in Yerevan, Armenia
This journey brings you to one of Armenia's most magnificent gorges, the Qasakh River Gorge, which is noted for its beautiful churches perched right on the cliff's edge! This daily tour includes a visit to a 13th-century monastic complex. Saghmosavank translates as "psalm monastery." Gregory the Illuminator's psalm-singing was said to be heard for several kilometers when he sang in the caves beneath the church. It was also well-known for its medieval manuscripts and library. We will stop along the way at the Armenian Alphabet Monument, where you will be able to find the initial letter of your name and take a picture with it. Armenian is not only an ancient language but also a separate branch of the Indo-European languages, making it unique worldwide.
The journey will take you to the Amberd fortress on Mount Aragats, Armenia's highest peak. In the 13th century, the noble Zakaryan family started the fight against the Seljuk Turks to free Armenia. They did this from this citadel. The name "Amberd" translates as "Fortress in the Clouds" due to its elevation of 2300m above sea level. After an exciting trip, you will take part in a cooking master class at the "Tonatsuyts" national cultural center and try traditional Armenian food.
