Algarve is located in the extreme east of Europe, the southernmost province of Portugal with a coastline of about 200 km, washed by the waters of the Atlantic from the south and west, protected by mountains from the north and bordered by Spain in the east. The exceptional climate, spacious sandy shores, beaches with warm clear waters make the Algarve one of the most popular beach holiday destinations. The climate here, as in Madeira, determined by the Atlantic, is very mild - here, even in the midst of summer, there is no debilitating heat
The air temperature here in November - March is 14-22C, April - May - 20-25C, June - September 27 - 30C. The temperature of the water in the ocean fluctuates throughout the year from 19 to 22C.
Lagos is an ancient city on the banks of the Bensafrine River with cobbled streets and narrow courtyards, still surrounded by fortified walls.
Algar de Benagil, or Benagil Cave, is undoubtedly one of the most stunning and famous natural attractions in Portugal. There is a remarkable grotto with a hole in the ceiling, known as the "eye", which illuminates the golden sand and turquoise waters with the sun and offers a view of the blue sky above.
