In Alentejo, the power of the earth leaves its mark on time, and cities such as Elvas (Elvas) and Évora (World Heritage of Humanity) clearly demonstrate the perseverance and hard work of the locals. Perhaps that is why culture and spirituality acquire a special character here. The memory of the centuries is preserved in other cities such as Santarém, Portalegre and Beja, as well as in the ancient Jewish quarters, especially in Castelo de Vide (Castelo de Vide).

The flat terrain makes walking or cycling easy. Horses are also considered an indispensable attribute of these places. We will be able to combine these walks with birdwatching, and on the dams, in particular at the Alqueva dam, with the contemplation of the serene water cover or the sky dotted with stars. You should definitely get acquainted with the coastal strip too. The local landscape features high, sloping slopes, with small coves nestled between rocks, many of which are excellent surfing spots.

The smells of the fields are everywhere here, and fragrant herbs give a special taste to fish dishes, seafood and other local dishes, which are always accompanied by excellent regional wine. After all, the whole of Alentejo lives in the rhythm set by the earth.

There are Neolithic monuments and the only Roman temple in Portugal. Evora lives and breathes history.

The city was founded by the Romans, fortified by the Moorish and became the seat of the Portuguese kings in the 15th century.

Today Evora is an open-air museum surrounded by historical monuments and a dozen churches. The Cathedral of Évora boasts incredible views of the city, while the Church of St. Francis wows visitors with its eerie bone chapel.

Most of the attractions are located in the historic center, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Despite the fact that the main sights can be seen in one day.
