The archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, located not far from Mexico, is considered one of the wonders of the world. Every year, Teotihuacán welcomes 3.5 million tourists from all corners of the earth. The pyramids of Teotihuacán in Mexico were discovered only in the 17th century. Then, in this place, the first archaeological excavations were carried out. But the full-scale research began only in the XX century. The name Teotihuacán for the abandoned city was given by the Aztecs, who came here in the 12th century AD. In the Nahuatl language, in which they spoke, Teotihuacán is called "the place where one becomes a god," "the place where gods are made," "the place of those who know the way to the gods," or "the place where the gods are beaten".
