This sunny oasis under a crystal blue sky against the backdrop of snow-capped mountain peaks artfully weaves the treasures of the rich past with the vibrant energy of modern cultures.
Let's start our tour with a visit to the Majorelle Garden, which belonged to the famous couturier Yves Saint Laurent. A walk through its shady alleys filled with the sweet scent of flowers is a pleasant escape from the hustle and heat of Marrakech. Here and there, in the midst of its exuberant exotic vegetation, bright blue pavilions are visible, the architecture of which combines Moorish style with Art Deco. This color, called "blue majorelle" has become one of the "signature" colors of Marrakech. The ashes of the great couturier were scattered here and a modest monument was erected in his honor.
Those who are interested in the work of the great fashion designer will be able to visit the magnificent Yves Saint Laurent Museum, where his collection inspired by the traditions of Morocco is presented.
Next, we will see the symbol of Marrakech — the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque (external inspection, non-Muslims are prohibited from entering). The simplicity and balance of architecture and elegant decor made the building one of the most beautiful monuments of the Maghreb.
We will take a walk around the main square of the city of Jemaa el-Fna, where life boils day and night. It is here that you can see the whole flavor of the tourist capital of Morocco: snake charmers and monkey trainers, gnaua musicians and acrobats, henna draughtsmen and fortune tellers, water peddlers and traditional healers, sellers of dates and orange juice.
And now let's dive into the maze of streets of the traditional souks of Marrakech. They are divided into specialized quarters, where you can wander indefinitely. The abundance of colors, sounds and smells is amazing. Spice market, babush market, fabrics and caftans market, hammered products market, carpets market. Here are just a few of what you can see here.
Let's take a look at the "Berber pharmacy", where traditional medicines, roots and herbs are sold, as well as at the artisan's workshop, where you can watch the production of Moroccan mosaics or other products.
Suddenly, behind an inconspicuous wall, we will discover one of the most beautiful palaces in Morocco — the Bahia Palace, built in the XVIII century. Once upon a time, the Sultan's confidant lived here with his 4 wives, 24 concubines.
