This tour from Salzburg takes you to the Königssee (“King’s Lake”) and the picturesque mountain town Berchtesgaden for an afternoon well spent exploring the beautiful Bavarian Alps.

The drive to Königssee takes about 50 minutes. Passing by the Baroque historic city center of Salzburg along the river Salzach, the route leads towards the border to Germany and into the Bavarian Alps. Following another river, the Königsseeache, the journey passes the Marktschellenberg, the Obersalzberg and the stunning scenery of the Bavarian mountains before reaching the Königssee.

The Königsse is embedded in steeply rising mountains from all sides. The most famous of these peaks is the legendary Watzmann. Explore the shore of the lake and the spectacular views or stroll through the picturesque lakeside village with the same name Königssee. You will have around 50 minutes to spend here.

Our Panorama Tours Tip: Take a walk along the northern shore of the King’s Lake to the Malerwinkel to reach a lookout point providing one of the most beautiful views of the lake.

The second stop on this tour is in the picturesque mountain town of Berchtesgaden. Explore the town in front of the spectacular alpine panorama, enjoy coffee and cake (consumption not included in price) and see the Bavarian lifestyle firsthand. The stay in Berchtesgaden is around 50 minutes.
