Parque das Nacoes Gardens. Private Walking Tour

On the tour, you will walk around 4 parks of the Parque das Nações or Expo, a modern district of Lisbon that was built for the 1998 World Expo. It features many attractions, including the Oceanário de Lisboa, a modern cityscape and waterfront that gives it a spacious feel. You will be able to take a lovely walk along its waterfront promenade, feeling the breeze of the ocean and breathing the fresh air. Accompanied by a qualified guide that can boast great knowledge not only in botany, but also in garden architecture, garden art and history, you will learn about the sites of the ’98 Expo.

Among other locations, you will walk to the Jardim da Música, a small water garden designed around the theme of music that will provide you with wonderful views of the Tagus River and all of the surrounding areas. You will pass Teleferico, a cable car ride that runs along the Tagus River with marvelous views of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, an architectural masterpiece, also built for the ’98 Expo. Nearby, you will find the Jardim Garcia de Orta, taking a nice stroll along the riverside. You will see there fountains and several botanic sections, mostly from Portugal’s former colonies, and learn that it was named after a 16th-century Portuguese naturalist and one of the pioneers in tropical medicine. The guide will take you to the Jardins de Água, an exciting park with cascading water, lots of greenery and artesian wells, and then you will head to the Jardim do Passeio dos Heróis do Mar, the largest park in the district. On the tour, you will also have the chance to visit the Oceanário de Lisboa that has multiple exhibits and a huge range of sea life, including sharks, penguins and otters, and Pavilhão do Conhecimento, a interactive science museum on the right bank of the Tagus River.
