About 85 species of birds, 15 species of mammals, 129 species of insects, and about 40 endemic plants live in and around the lake. Here you can see golden plovers flying in groups, swift-billed hummingbirds, wild geese, flamingos, red-throated flocks, and demoiselle cranes. The lake, with its deserted shores, is a bird's paradise. They can swim as much as they like, as the lake does not freeze even in the harshest winter cold, and in the spring, birds can incubate their eggs on the lake's islands. The lake is also the habitat of Europe's endangered flamingos, and brood colonies, each with thousands of nests, can easily be spotted here.
