Pergamon is an ancient city in modern-day today located 95 from Izmir city. Pergamon became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon during the Hellenistic period, it became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon in 281-133 BC under the Attalid dynasty, who transformed it into one of the major cultural centres of the Greek world. Many remains of its monuments can still be seen and especially the masterpiece of the Pergamon Altar. Pergamon was the northernmost of the seven churches of Asia cited in the New Testament Book of Revelation. Drive to Pergamon, once the ancient world's major power and center of learning and the arts. Visit Acropolis where upper city was, the Library, which once held 200, 000 books. Visit Temple of Athena, Temple of Trajan, Altar of Zeus situated on terraces, the lower Agora. Visit Red Basilica dedicated to God Serapis from the main road. After lunch is extra (if desired ). Visit Asklepion, the ancient healing center.
At the end of the tour, drive back to Izmir city.
