Udawalawe National Park covers 80000 acres of land on the border of Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces. Udawalawe is a completely unusual and beautiful park was opened in 1972. During the dry season, elephants from other areas come to the park. In the forest you can meet spotted axis deer, zambar, wild boars, leopards, bears, packs of gray langurs. There are also mongooses, varanas and buffalos. In total there are 39 species of mammals, 21 species of fish and 33 species of reptiles.

The park is a very suitable place for bird watchers, especially for rare species. These are jungle fowls, gray pigeons, parrots, thrushes, various species of raptors totaling 184 species.
