Your guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel to start your full-day trip to Abydos.
In the holy city of Abydos, the cult center of the god Osiris, you will visit the amazing Temple of pharaoh Seti I (1323-1279 BC). This temple is unique in its design among the Egyptian temples which takes the form of the letter L. The temple was dedicated to seven various deities, Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun, Re-Horakhty, Ptah, and Seti I as a deity.
The temple is divided into three sections. The rear segment includes seven chapels of the gods of the temple. This section was entirely constructed and decorated by Seti I. The middle section includes the Hypostyles of the temple. This section was constructed by Seti I and decorated by his son Ramses II. The third section of the temple is completely damaged and was entirely made by Ramses II.
One of the great temple scenes with significant historical evidence is the list of 72 kings known as the Kings List of Abydos.
The Osirion is just behind Seti Is temple and was thought to have been built by pharaoh Merenptah as a tomb for one part of the body of Osiris when god Seth dismembered it.
There is a small temple founded by the pharaoh Ramses II, about 1.5 km away from the temple of his father. Today the temple is in ruins, but you walk to it and see what remains.

From Abydos, you will drive back to Dendera.
Dendera is just 55 km north of Luxor. It was known as Tnatre, and it was the capital city of the sixth Nome of Upper Egypt in ancient times.
The main feature of the complex of Dendera is the temple of the goddess Hathor. The Temple of Hathor is one of the most well-preserved antiquity sites in Egypt today and is an excellent example of traditional Pharaonic architecture. The Temple of Hathor was built primarily during the Ptolemaic Dynasty, which was a period of Greek rule in Egypt. However, the construction of the temple was completed under the Roman Emperor Trajan, who is seen depicted on the walls of the complex making offerings to Hathor. The temple complex also includes a monumental gateway, constructed by Trajan as well as Domitian, another Roman emperor.
The temple is very popular for its ceilings astronomical scenes and crypts as well as the Egyptian Zodiac located on the top floor. Just a replica of the zodiac is found at the temple while the original is at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
