1-day Tour to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Caves in Kandy, Sri Lanka
On this guided walking tour, you will visit two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Golden Temple of Dambulla. During the first part of the trip, the guide will take you around Sigiriya or Lion Rock, the ancient fortress that dates back to the 5th century AD.
You will see the Water, Boulder and Terraced Gardens, Frescoes, the Mirror Wall, Graffiti and the Royal Palace of King Kashyapa, the founder of the fortress.
After having lunch, you will proceed to Dambulla cave temple to examine its rock paintings and caves that date back to the 1st century BC. There, you will be able to learn more about Buddhism, its traditions and philosophy. If you are interested in spices, you will have the chance to visit Rawana Herbal and Spice Garden and see how they're grown in Sigiriya.
