We honor the brave souls who gave their lives for our freedom on one of our most memorable trips. We made this tour for people who want to learn about ancient Greek warfare and see the most famous battlefield from the Persian Wars. We will reach the holy ground of the Marathon from Athens via the Attic Highway and Marathon Avenue. Signs marking off each kilometer reveal the route of the first ever marathon. The Athenians' Tumulus, where they celebrated their 490 B.C. triumph over the Persians with much fanfare, comes up next. We will also visit the prehistoric cemetery at Marathon, which attests to the early signs of civilization in the area, and the battlefield where the Battle of Marathon took place.

The Persians made their camp on Marathon Bay. Last but not least, we'll make our way to Marathon Lake, which is nestled into the base of Mount Penteli, after passing through the modern-day town of Marathon. Once Athens' primary reservoir, this man-made lake is surrounded by a massive early 20th-century mechanical structure: its dam. Then we'll hop back on the jet and head to Thermopylae. King Leonidas and his 300 brave Spartans heroically challenged the Persian army here, ten years after the Battle of Marathon. The history museum will be showing an educational 3D film.

You'll feel like you've taken a time machine back to when brave men and women fought for independence from an alien invader. The last stop is the statue of Leonidas, which is located just across from Kolonos Hill, where the brave Spartans gave their last stand. Experience the battlefield where the Thermopylae Gate was defended, and have a memorable walk around the hot springs! You will head back to Athens after a seaside lunch.

Time-Traveling to Ancient Battles

Imagine starting your day with a scenic drive along the Attic Highway, mirroring the path taken by the Athenians heading to battle. As you roll into Marathon, you'll be greeted by the sight of Marker Monuments that signify the footsteps of the first marathon runners from 490 BC. You'll discover the Marathon Tomb, where the valiant 192 Athenian soldiers sleep, having fought valiantly against the Persian forces. Not far from there lies the Archaeological Museum of Marathon, where artifacts whisper stories from a bygone era. But it doesnt stop there; prepare to be stirred by the majesty of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans made their legendary stand.
