Abu Simbel Temples Tour from Aswan, Egypt
Join us on a fantastic adventure to Abu Simbel, one of the most picturesque places in Egypt, saved from flooding by the massive artificial water reservoir that has formed after the building of the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile! Each morning we arrange a tour for a small group (8–15 people) to the temples of Abu Simbel, located 280 km to the south. The temples of Abu Simbel are considered some of the most significant in Egypt. They were carved into the rock during the era of one of the most fabulous kings of the Pharaonic period, Ramses the Second, in 1200 B.C. He ordered these temples to celebrate the anniversaries of his coronation and birth, and they were designed in such a way that when the sun rose, it would light up his statue inside. A small temple he devoted to his beloved wife, the most beautiful woman in the world, Queen Nefertari.
