Ancient Olympia Private Tour in Zakinthos, Greece
In western Peloponnese, in the beautiful valley of the Alpheios river, lies the most celebrated sanctuary of Ancient Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. We pick you up approximately at 7.00 AM, and take you to the port of Zakynthos. At 8.00 AM, the ferry departs for Kyllini. From Kyllini, passing the Tower, we go straight to Olympia, which we reach in about 45 minutes. There, the professional guide of Olympia will guide you to the archeological site, the place where the ancient Greeks gathered to celebrate and worship their gods. Many ruins and columns of the temples of the Olympian gods have survived for thousands of years. When you see them, you will be able to admire the famous ancient Greek architecture. Then you have a lot of time to visit with our guide the new museum, where you can see the magnificent statues and the ancient weapons and tools, which have been found at the archeological site. Then the guide will take you to the current village of Olympia, where you can dine or buy souvenirs, books, etc. We leave Olympia approximately at 3.45 PM. You will be returned to your hotel at 7.30 PM.
