Sri Lankan Flavors in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia
Join us for an aromatic, mouthwatering meal and a traditional Sri Lankan cooking experience where you can discover exactly what to use to prepare the perfect curry. Choosing only food vendors that are frequented by the locals, your guide will take you to food venues where traditional, authentic recipes are still being used and passed on from generation to generation. You will try delicious samosa, a kind of pastry with a savory filling, as well as the best kottu in Sri Lanka. Kottu is a spicy roti stir-fry with vegetables and meat that can be made vegetarian by replacing the latter with delicious rice curry. After the first meal, you will take a break and have a cup of traditional Sri Lankan tea. You will move on to the famous Sri Lankan hoppers, bowl-shaped or funnel-shaped pancakes, and then try a range of dishes based on fermented batter that is usually made with rice flour and spiced coconut milk. You will also eat some local fresh seafood and Malay achcharu, the traditional salad made from a selection of veggies in a pickled sauce. And, of course, you will be treated with traditional sweets and refreshing fruit juice. The tour is not only limited to food, you will also get to know the city, while your guide will tell you interesting local stories along the way.
