Full-day Tour to Kandy and Pinnawala

Departing from Negombo or Colombo, you will drive for 2 hours to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is located northwest of Kegalle and was established in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. There, orphaned or injured elephants live in their natural habitat and are being looked after. You will have a chance to see members of staff feeding elephant calves and elephants bathing in a river. You will visit a tea factory and its plantation in the highlands and see how tea is being picked. Then, you will go to the location of Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya that is well-known for its remarkable collection of orchids. Among other things, the garden has more than 4,000 species of plants, including spices, medicinal herbs and palm trees. The tour will conclude with the trip to Kandy, the last capital of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka, and the Temple of the Tooth. A large city in the Central Province, Kandy is set on a plateau and is surrounded by mountains, tea plantations and rainforests. You will stroll around a scenic lake right in the heart of the city and pay a visit to the Temple of the Tooth, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa. A Buddhist temple and a World Heritage Site, it is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy and features the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.
