Albufeira is a city in the very south of Portugal in the historical region of Algarve. This is Faro's premier resort and boasts great beaches, a picturesque old town and a bustling atmosphere. Albufeira is once a quiet fishing village that still retains its traditional character and cute provincial charm. Its heart is a labyrinth of steep, narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses and fishermen's huts that lead down to a magnificent beach.

Albufeira is located in the south of Portugal in the district of Faro. The city is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, 250 km from Lisbon. It has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters.

Albufeira has a magnificent sandy beach with crystal clear sea. It has a length of 2 km and is divided into three parts: Praia dos Pescadores, Praia do Inatel, Praia dos Alemães.

Presumably, Albufeira was founded in the prehistoric era as a fishing village. Later the Romans occupied the settlement and named it Baltum. The modern name of the city comes from the Arabic word "Al-buhera", which means "sea castle". The Arabs built powerful defensive structures here, making this area almost impregnable. This allowed them to keep these lands for the longest time.

The main attraction of Albufeira is a magnificent beach with golden sand and blue sea. Also nearby are the Praia da Oura beach and the picturesque Olhos da Água.
